Priyo

I moved to Chennai in August 2022. Alone. A new city, a new role, a new life. The first year I painted longing. Two souls leaning toward each other, almost touching, never quite arriving. That was Chennai Year One. Priyo came in Year Two. September 2024. By then something had shifted. The city that once felt foreign had quietly become familiar. The silence that once felt heavy had become music. And so Krishna arrived on my paper — alone in his forest, lotus scrollwork blooming across his skin, playing his flute for no one and everyone at once. The peacock listening. The butterflies pausing. The world leaning in. Priyo. Beloved. This is what independence feels like when you finally stop being afraid of it — when solitude stops being lonely and starts being a song.
