The Loudest Silence

April 2020. The world had stopped — and so had I. I was finishing my postgraduate degree in the middle of a lockdown, standing at the edge of a career with nowhere to step. The anxiety was loud. The uncertainty was louder. And the canvas became the only place where everything inside me could finally speak. The woman in prayer is not a figure I observed — she is a feeling I lived. Her face, shattered into geometric fragments, carries every fractured thought I couldn't put into words. The storm swirling around her was not background — it was circumstance. It was 2020. It was the world I was trying to make sense of. And yet — her hands are folded. Her eyes are closed. Not in defeat, but in something far more difficult than courage. Surrender. I have always believed that surrender is not giving up — it is trusting something larger than your fear. This painting was my prayer. My way of finding hopes not by fighting the storm, but by becoming still inside it. Watercolour on handmade paper. Because some emotions need a surface that breathes.
