In this piece, I aimed to capture a moment of natural stillness through the medium of film photography. The monochromatic black and white palette allows the intricate textures of the monkey’s fur and surrounding grass to stand out clearly. Using cyanotype on rice paper, the image emphasizes form and shadow, offering a timeless and classic quality. This original work from 1975 invites viewers to observe the subtle complexity of wildlife behavior in a candid and intimate fashion. The portrait orientation enhances the presence of the monkey, making its expressive face the focal point of the composition.
