The intricate statues of the 12th-century Belur-Halebid temples in Karnataka have always fascinated me. Their delicate, lifelike carvings, made from hard granite, are remarkable examples of craftsmanship. In this work, I’ve painted one of these exquisite sculptures on sand using acrylics, aiming to recreate that same fine detail and texture. The sand’s surface adds a subtle three-dimensional effect, allowing a small piece of this magnificent heritage to come alive in your space.
