I’m Simran Murkar, a trained sculptor from Sir J.J School of Arts and the co-founder of Aantar Studio where Aantar means inner in Marathi. My journey began at home, watching my father make Ganpati idols. Clay was always around, long before I thought of it as something I would study or build my life around. I went on to study sculpture at Sir J.J. School of Art and gradually found my own interest in symbolism which helped me portray my emotions in form of art in an encoded manner. Today, I work on my art and Aantar full-time. I work with materials like terracotta and paper-mâché, and also recently made my original 100% organic eco-friendly yet strong clay recipe that does not require fire to gain strength - yes, you can throw it on the ground and it won't break !
