This painting depicts devotee Chokhamela's deep devotion which led him to worship Lord Vitthala.(another name of Vishnu) Devotee Chokhamela (14th century) was a renowned Marathi sant (saint) and poet from the Varkari tradition, celebrated for his intense devotion to Lord Vitthala despite facing severe caste discrimination. Belonging to the Mahar caste, he lived in Mangalvedha, Maharashtra, writing heartfelt abhangs (devotional poetry) highlighting equality.
