▾

This traditional Indian painting depicts Lord Krishna guiding and revealing divine wisdom to Arjuna on the battlefield of Kurukshetra. Krishna is portrayed in his characteristic blue complexion, adorned with a jeweled crown featuring the peacock feather, elaborate ornaments, and colorful garments. Beside him, Arjuna kneels before Krishna in reverence, shown with folded hands and a humble, devoted posture. The magnificent chariot, richly decorated in gold, stands behind them, symbolizing the setting of the Bhagavad Gita. The battlefield, warriors, flags, and distant armies create the atmosphere of the great Mahabharata war. The painting emphasizes the relationship between divine guidance and human devotion—Krishna as the supreme guide and Arjuna as the seeker receiving spiritual knowledge and courage before the battle. The vibrant colors, ornate costumes, chariot, and traditional devotional style give the work a distinctly Indian mythological and religious-art aesthetic.
